November 18, 2005 When Dad Has Had a Bad Day
Dad is sad. Why did Dad have such a bad day? 1. He has a bad cold (it's the same one I've had for a week longer and bitch about approximately 10% as often, but regardless, I know it's a bad one) Dad walks in the house, coughing and tired, and Frances runs to meet him. He picks her up and carries her to the sofa, sits down and puts her in his lap. "I love you, Frances." "I love you, Daddy!" "Oh! I love you, Frances!" "I love you, Daddy!" If it weren't my life, I'd swear I made that up. That was her very first "I love you, Daddy!"
