March 20, 2006 Happy Ostara
Today, there will be exactly as much daylight as darkness. Which means that tomorrow, there will be more daylight than darkness. And before we know it, we Torontonians will be loving those glorious summer days that last until 9:30 at night, complaining about smog and saying "It's not the heat, it's the humidity." It's hard to remember when we're still chomping at the bit with temperatures just above freezing and too many layers to put on to go get the mail. But soon, soon. Part of the package is to celebrate the solstice (3 months late, yes, punctuality is still one of the areas where I am struggling) - but if it gets there before friday, the package will still be timely! Crap, thanks for the reminder. I didn't even realize today was the 20th. My head has not been on the ground lately. Posted by: Eryn at March 20, 2006 1:25 PM
Happy Ostara! Posted by: Casey at March 20, 2006 4:10 PM
RAchel: Yay! Eryn: I can imagine. As much as I dislike our winter and summer extremes, I can't really picture living somewhere without some seasonal markers. Casey: thanks! Posted by: Andrea at March 21, 2006 10:49 AM

Change is God (Octavia Butler, Parable Series) "In this world, there is nothing softer or thinner than water. But to compel the hard and unyielding, it has no equal. That the weak overcomes the strong, that the hard gives way to the gentle -- this everyone knows. Yet no one acts accordingly." The title of this blog was taken from the short story "The Language of Nna Mmoy" by Ursula le Guin in her collection, Changing Planes. I won't tell you why or how, because I want you to read the story and figure it out for yourself.
