April 16, 2007 Monday Mission: New and Improved! Spring!
(This is our last Monday Mission! I'm so sad!) NEW AND IMPROVED! Spring! Now colder and snowier than ever! With 50% more wind and 50% less sunshine! Guaranteed to provide your immune system with the seasonal challenge it needs! This NEW AND IMPROVED Spring! works by driving arctic weather systems further south, thus delaying the inconvenient onset of flowers, birds, leaves, green grass and jackets. Tired of messing with wardrobe changes? Wish you could just wear your thick sweaters and down coats all year? You're in luck! Our NEW AND IMPROVED Spring! will relieve you of these logistical details. Spring! NEW AND IMPROVED! Because who needs tulips, anyway? (Can you tell I put three whole minutes of thought into this one? You can, can't you? Anyway. I had a lot of fun with this series, and I hope the people who played along did too. If any of you want to keep going and have some amazing ideas, by all means comment and say so, and we'll figure something out.) Posted by Andrea at April 16, 2007 6:27 AM under Monday Mission EMAIL this entry (comments fields are below this section) Comments I have very much enjoyed this series... I didn't do every single mission (some of them were just beyond me), but I loved doing the ones I did. I don't have any great ideas but would love to try more. I loved this ad. Your three minutes of thought paid off. Posted by: cinnamon gurl at April 16, 2007 7:34 AM
Even though my participation has been sporadic, I've enjoyed this series. It's been great to exercise some writing muscles when participating and fun to read something that pushes the boundaries of the standard blog entry. Just off the top of my head, future types of writing might be a rubric, lab report, or table of contents. Posted by: Suz at April 16, 2007 7:58 AM
Ugh. I'll pass on ordering any of that NEW AND IMPROVED Spring. I'd like to pre-order some ORIGINAL SUMMER though. Loved the series! You're very creative and talented! Posted by: Miche at April 16, 2007 7:59 AM
I didn't have the guts to participate, but I really enjoyed the Monday Missions. Posted by: Casey at April 16, 2007 8:18 AM
Don't you just love the way new products come with built-in obsolescence? It's too bad the obsolescence with this one will be the consumer (and polar bears, and ice caps...) I have loved doing the Monday missions. Having done all but one, I may want about a month break from them but I could easily return to it. I really like the table of contents idea floated above and I must admit I don't even know what a rubric is. We could also do an encyclopedia entry, a thesaurus entry (this is specific to library science--to see what I mean, check out my "toddler thesaurus" tag b/c I did an number of these in the fall), and a picture book (although I think Dutch at Sweet Juniper has raised the bar pretty high on this one). As soon as I can get my pictures off my camera and onto the computer, I'll post mine. I would love to continue the series. Let's see... We could do a letter to the editor. We could do a Wikipedia entry. And how about this. In Oregon and I'm sure elsewhere citizens can propose initiatives that appear on the ballot & everyone votes on them, they're just like legislation. What if we wrote a ballot initiative? Posted by: Jennifer at April 16, 2007 9:01 AM
I absolutely enjoyed reading the Monday Missions, and even did a few in my head... I felt I couldn't commit to doing them, and later regretted not participating because I realized sometimes it's easier to follow an assignment than to come up with something on my own. Already a lot of ideas are being presented, so I hope you will continue again... maybe do a month on, a month off? Posted by: Sober Briquette at April 16, 2007 9:21 AM
Great Ad! I'd could do without though! Posted by: LauraJ at April 16, 2007 9:24 AM
Hilarious!! I haven't participated in the Mission Mondays, but I have enjoyed seeing how everyone has completed them. Posted by: Kyla at April 16, 2007 9:53 AM
Ugh. You almost had me sold. Almost. Until I looked outside. I wasn't able to join in as much as I would have liked, but I thought it was an excellent idea, and I loved reading other people's attempts. 17 by Saturday (they say). Posted by: Jill at April 16, 2007 10:33 AM
A long as spring is going to be cold and dark, I can keep my fat rolls and pale blotchy skin. Posted by: Nael at April 16, 2007 10:50 AM
Good one! This mission I could do, but the computer is presently running on the generator and will have to be shut down almost at once. Ontario Hydro phoned once to say our power was back on, and we hastened to assure them it was not. Lovely! Posted by: Mary G at April 16, 2007 5:08 PM
Aaaack! I was going to try to get up the nerve to participate. Ah, well. Maybe it's better this way - tho' if anyone does have some amazing ideas I'll try harder to play along. Posted by: theflyingmum at April 16, 2007 6:48 PM

I loved this series! Saw on Mixter's that you're not feeling well. I hope you're feeling better soon. Posted by: liz at April 16, 2007 9:17 PM
OK. I see some of you would like to keep it going, but I am kind of burnt out. I think taking a month-long break is a great idea. Is there anyone out there who'd like to do the hosting next time? Posted by: Andrea at April 17, 2007 9:08 AM
I just guess you're burned out. I think a break is a good idea. Resume in Jume? I'm too new to host, but would be delighted to help someone more senior come up with ideas. Posted by: Mary G at April 17, 2007 9:22 PM
If no one ever volunteered to host this, I will do it. Sunday night and I'm missing it : ) Posted by: Jennifer at April 22, 2007 8:22 PM
