Twenty-Four Days: Diversions

The problem is that I've simply run out of other things to say.

I know they're in there somewhere; but the divorce/separation and its interminable minutae of logistics and management is taking over everything. It's so much work. And with twenty-four days to go it is beginning to feel as if I won't possibly have enough time to get everything done.

So instead of taxing my brain trying to pretend as if I care about anything else, or have the mental resources to think of anything else, right now, with a few unbloggable exceptions: How about some photos I took with the new camera?

I took it out to the local woodlot to play with the macro setting and take some pictures of the things I love before I lose the ability to see them every day. I know that to most people they are indescribably common; but to me they are beautiful, and I'll miss them.

Have to admit that one is one of my favourites. I'm not sure what those little critters are, but they sure seem to be enjoying themselves.

And this one is for Jennifer:

But more about it on Friday.

They're beautiful. I do love the macro setting, especially for nature photos. My digital camera doesn't have that, and now I wish even more that it did!

Color me stupid, but what is a macro setting?

A macro settign is a focus setting that puts one thing very close to the camera in sharp focus and makes everything else really blurry.

I wouldn't be able to think about anything else, either. Good for you for finding the beauty there that you can take with you.

Oooh, great work! I'm quite a fan of the D40, it's a perfect camera that will grow with you. And as you probably know, I am not going to complain about anyone buying a Nikon, as I've been shooting them my whole life (mostly) and own three myself.

It's such an intuitive machine, isn't it?

I've got the D-80 myself, and the nice thing about all *all* nikons - all nikon lenses work with them. So you can get a nikon lens at a discount shop, and it will work if you want something new. The 28-70 is probably what came with your camera? Or maybe 35-80? Another great lens (one I own) which is good for getting kid pics outside without getting too close is the 70-240. It allows you to zoom in on details without interrupting the action.

Oh wow...nice job! I love the bugs too...lol!

Isn't macro FUN? I always have to stop myself from taking yet another close-up photo of my flowers and bugs that are outside. Did you see the flower and bee one that I recently posted on FB?

Rachel, thanks! That means a lot, considering your profession and training. And I'll keep that lens recommendation in mind.

Tanya--nooooo. I haven't been on facebook much lately. But I'll go check it out, just for you.

Those photos make me want to be a bug!

And the hair, what beautiful hair Frances has! Thank you for the pic : ) I'll wait for Friday for the story.

The pics are great, but I LOVE the one of Frances! She's getting so big! And that lovely, shiny hair!

I just want to squeeze her!
