Getting There

Everything is unpacked.

OK, so the books are double-stacked horizontally in the big bookcase in the living room, and in the bookcase in my room; and ok, there are books in the bookcases in the hallway and the kitchen. (Yes. Kitchen. What?)

OK, trying to hang the mirror in Frances's room tore a hole in the drywall, that I will now have to fill and sand and paint (again).

OK, I still need to paint and refinish the furniture.

OK, I still need a blind in my room, and I need to hang the curtains. And, ok, we still need somewhere to put our shoes. And, ok, the printer and scanner are currently stored in the linen closet, and the pantry has been turned into a craft supply cupboard, and the storage room is an impromptu gym.

OK, there are frames that need pictures, and a few small things left to get for the apartment.

But other than that. I think I'm done.

Phew. While I'm sure it still seems overwhelming, at least the next step is making it feel like your own. Hugs.

It's a lot to unpack...then to settle in...but yeah, you're getting there. Good luck with the to-do list and making it all your home. :)

We've been in our house for almost four years, and I still haven't done some of the things on your list. I think you're doing really well!

Yay! I'm so happy for you!

(Ya know, it's been more than four years since we've moved, and I still haven't gotten around to replacing the blind in one of the bedrooms. Matter of fact, the boys pulled the living room curtains right out of the wall - leaving a six-inch divot, no less - more than a month ago, and we still haven't fixed that yet either. Can I hire you to come out to get our place ship-shape when you're done??)

If that's all that's left to be done, then you did amazingly well!

I hope you're able to enjoy your place, in lieu of worrying about the 'unfinished' bits.

I'm very impressed that this is all you have left to finish. We still have unpacked boxes from 5 years ago and when Kid L's curtain rod fell out of the wall yesterday I put it back up with packing tape.

Um...curtains? What are those? I have a flannel sheet doubled over and tacked up in MM's room and he's five!

I wish I had a bookcase in my kitchen. All my food books would go in there, to be close so I could eat and pluck one off the shelf to browse while eating.
