Lazy Tuesday Meme

A meme from CraftyDabbler:

1. The rules of the game get posted at the beginning.

2. Each player answers the questions about themselves.

3. At the end of the post, the player tags 5 people and posts their name, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they've been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

What was I doing 10 years ago?

I was halfway through my last co-op term, living in a rented room in Ottawa, working for DND in their environmental office. It was the only job I've ever had or am likely to ever have where unexploded ammunition was considered a standard environmental concern. I have dozens of good stories about that job; sadly, many of them have been classified, so I will have to sigh reluctantly and shake my head in lieu of sharing them. The Canadian military might be pathetic but I'd still rather they not hunt me down.

Five snacks I enjoy in a perfect, non weight-gaining world:

I'm going to read this as a "perfect, non-diabetic world" because I've never turned down a snack based on its calories or fat content.

1. soft drinks with actual sugar
2. waffles or pancakes at a restaurant
3. juice, milkshakes, smoothies
4. breakfast cereals
5. I can't think of a fifth thing I normally avoid eating because of its effect on my blood sugar. Pizza's tricky, I guess.

Five snacks I enjoy in the real world:

1. chocolate, in small doses
2. shortbread cookies, on Saturdays
3. diet coke
4. black tea
5. homemade chocolate chip cookies warm from the oven, on special occasions

Five things I would do if I were a billionaire:

1. Buy a small house, and hire someone to do the outside maintenance. I am not a lawn-mowing kind of person. Actually I'll take that back: replace the lawn with a nice, low-maintenance garden. That's much better.
2. Put aside plenty of money for Frances's education
3. Buy a few seats in parliament and give them to someone with brains. (What? Don't tell me they're not for sale.)
4. Never work for money again, unless it's because someone paid for something I wrote.
5. Give a pile of it away. Have fun watching people name libraries and hospital wings and school auditoriums after me.

Five jobs that I have had:

1. Admin assistant in a Girl Guides office
2. Fry girl
3. PR in a municipal office, which involved dressing up as a giant stack of newspapers in the annual Santa Claus Parade. You haven't had fun until you've dressed up as a giant stack of newspapers placed on top of a giant blue box.
4. Environmental Officer parts 1, 2, and 3.
5. highschool substitute teacher. Yes, really.

Three of my habits:

1. I can't walk past a newsstand without checking out all the magazines, no matter how many newsstands I have passed earlier in that day with the exact same magazines on them.
2. "Frances, you're adorable. Did you know that? You're such a great kid. I'm so lucky." (I know, Mummy! You said that already!)
3. Poking various diabetes-related holes in myself.

Five places I have lived:

1. Brampton
2. Toronto
3. Waterloo
4. Ottawa
5. Germany

Five people I want to get to know better: (A nice way of saying TAG!)

1. anyone
2. who
3. wants
4. to
5. play

Lots of bigger posts brewing. This is my way of taking a breather.
