(overheard while Frances was playing with C in the backyard.) Frances: I love my Mummy. I love my whole family! C: That's nice. Frances: I love you too. You are my sister. C: Aww...I love you too. (hug) Frances: You are my honourary sister. C: Yeah. Frances: Honourary means nice. I once had to correct a twenty-something (back when I was a twenty-something, actually) when she referred to her beloved partner as her "erstwhile husband." She also thought it meant "nice" I think. Hahahaha! We had a little "clarification" from Little Man today. When I looked at him and asked (because he looked very tired) if he was "wasted," he replied: "Yes, I'm totally wasted." Then he looked at his cousin and declared, "That means I'm tired." Phew! :) Posted by: Kia at July 20, 2008 10:26 PM

The title of this blog was taken from the short story "The Language of Nna Mmoy" by Ursula le Guin in her collection, Changing Planes. I won't tell you why or how, because I want you to read the story and figure it out for yourself.
